Ty Burrell vuelve a la tele como entrenador y deja en Suspense a la serie Coach

La pantalla de televisión vuelve a tener a uno de los rostros más familiares de las sitcoms de la última década. Ty Burrell, el actor queódulo During gave life to Phil Dunphy in Modern Family, appears set to star in Coach, the new version of the ABC classic that NBC is developing. The project is still in development, so there is no premiere date, but it marks the actor's return to a televised fiction after the end of the ABC series.

The new Coach will not be a continuation of the story from the original sitcom. It will again follow a basketball coach who returns to his hometown in Minnesota to rebuild the university's team and reconnect with the community around him. That premise is the central hook of this reboot, which is written by Daniel Libman and Matthew Libman, the creators of Mr. Throwback.

A known story with a new face

For viewers who remember the ABC sitcom, the name Coach carries a particular association. Between 1989 and 1997, Craig T. Nelson played the central character in a comedy built around basketball, family and the everyday life of a college coach. The new version takes that framework and places Burrell in the lead role, adding a recognizable television presence to a premise that NBC has already tried once.

The earlier attempt came in 2015, when NBC produced a pilot about the son of the original coach. The executives did not approve the pilot, and the project was left aside. This new version is different: it returns to the premise of the original series rather than trying to continue its story.

“Ha sido simplemente espectacular. Nos mudamos aquí justo después de que terminara y no me arrepiento de nada. Ha sido maravilloso y es un lugar estupendo para criar a las niñas.”Ty Burrell

Burrell made that change in his personal life after the end of Modern Family, which ran for eleven seasons from 2009 to 2020. He moved from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City with his wife Holly and their daughters Frances and Greta. In the years since then, he kept a lower profile, with occasional voice work and a podcast project, but the Coach announcement brings him back into a central role in television.

The return also brings an interesting test for NBC. Coach has a clear comedic engine, but a series that began almost two decades ago has to find a contemporary way to connect with viewers. The material does not yet provide a premiere date or details about the cast beyond Burrell's confirmed participation. Until NBC moves the project forward, the return remains a project under development.

  • Coach será una nueva versión de la comedia clásica de ABC.
  • Ty BurrellProtagonizará the series.
  • La historia estaráAmbientada en Minnesota y gira en torno a un entrenador de básquet universitario.
  • Daniel y Matthew Libman escribieron el proyecto.
  • NBC ya produjo un piloto en 2015, pero no fue aprobado.

Still, Burrell's return is already enough to generate expectation. The actor left television at a point when Phil Dunphy had become part of the cultural memory of Modern Family. Now he will face a different challenge: playing a basketball coach in a story that must feel familiar without becoming a simple copy of the original. The next date to watch is the one NBC has yet to announce: the network will need to confirm the project's status before setting a premiere.
